A single curve sets the course for the space’s journey.
A silver structure floats within a pure white vessel—rounded, weightless, and refined.
Light and shadow glide across its curved surfaces, while vibrant colors shimmer like signals in motion.
Daily life now travels through an imaginative capsule of the future.
Located in Taoyuan, this residential project focuses on the living room and bedroom as the core design zones. The overall concept is rooted in Space Age Interior Design, creating a living environment reminiscent of a futuristic spacecraft. The spatial language integrates futurism, aerodynamic forms, technological materials, and modular thinking, resulting in rounded, fluid, and highly futuristic forms. Through this project, the design team sought to redefine dwelling itself—not merely as living, but as inhabiting a private capsule for everyday life, guiding the homeowner on a journey into the future.
The original living and dining area was long and narrow, with a ceiling height of 3.6 meters, originally suitable for a mezzanine layout. Rather than adopting a conventional solution, the design team restructured the proportions through geometric order. With surreal-scale forms and bold spatial composition, they broke away from existing constraints and combined Space Age aesthetics to create a dramatic and futuristic spatial experiment.
The overall palette is based on grey and white walls that establish visual divisions. Horizontal lines visually push back the sense of height, reducing the pressure of the tall, narrow proportions. Pure white serves as the spatial foundation, while silver metallic finishes become the primary furniture language. High-saturation colors are introduced as accents, creating a balance between rational precision and playful energy.
A flowing curved line divides the living room from the dining area, with an inlaid brass strip acting as a refined transition detail. Changes in flooring materials—from timber flooring to carpet—allow the two living zones to shift naturally while remaining connected within a single visual axis.
Upon entry, one is welcomed by a curved foyer. Cool white lighting envelops the entire space, evoking the sensation of entering a time-transition chamber. The surrounding walls are clad in white capsule-shaped perforated metal panels, generating a distinctly futuristic technological atmosphere. Overhead, a welcoming ceiling light is integrated with concealed air return vents, seamlessly merging function and form into one cohesive system.
The living room is designed as an open and comfortable family media lounge. A full white wall serves as a projection screen, while to the right sits a high-tech control panel reminiscent of a spacecraft console, used for lighting control and integrating the lighting systems of both the living and dining areas. Below, a silver stainless-steel ledge extends outward as a platform for projection equipment. To the left, a floating silver cylindrical cabinet provides concealed appliance storage. Together, the wall composition resembles the command deck of a spaceship, transforming daily life into an immersive futuristic experience.
Above the entrance leading to the bedroom, a circular metal cabinet is installed as elevated storage. Finished in raw black steel, it quietly blends into the grey background, visually minimizing what would otherwise be a heavy volume.
The dining area centers around a silver cylindrical cabinet as its main focal point. Symmetrical structures on both sides establish a stable sense of order, while a curved dark marble dining table extends outward from the center. Though the silver cylinder appears to span vertically through the space, it is in fact cleverly divided by the dining table. The upper cabinet is lined in vivid orange and contains a rotating tray for displaying beverages, while the lower section functions as an independent stainless-steel circular side table with shelving, offering flexible functionality.
Along one side of the dining table, a row of angled cabinets increases storage capacity while introducing geometric character to the otherwise rounded Space Age environment. White cabinetry lined with blue compartments adds a lively rhythm to the cool technological palette.
The bedroom continues the spacecraft-inspired concept. Full-height wardrobes are proportioned according to the homeowner’s height and redivided into forms resembling spacecraft hatch doors. The pure white cabinetry is paired with circular viewing windows, allowing the wardrobe interior to be seen at a glance for easy access while visually lightening the overall volume.
On one side stands a stainless-steel framed dressing mirror composed of two circular mirrors stacked vertically. The upper mirror provides a close-up reflection for skincare, makeup, and grooming, while the lower mirror allows full-outfit viewing. Both mirrors can rotate for angle adjustment, making daily use more flexible and intuitive.
